Dear Parents, Staff, Alumni, and SFDS Community,
There is a saying that you can never truly leave home. For me, St. Francis de Sales has always been home.
As an alumna, I walked these same hallways carrying dreams that often felt bigger than my circumstances. The teachers who believed in me changed the trajectory of my life, and today I have the extraordinary privilege of paying that gift forward as Principal and CEO.
Five years ago, I stepped into this role with a vision of what St. Francis de Sales could become. Today, that vision continues to grow every single day.
We are still a Catholic high school rooted in faith, academic excellence, and service, but we have become so much more than a place where students attend classes. We have become a place where students discover who they are, where families find support, and where our community comes together to create opportunity.
At St. Francis de Sales, we believe that a student’s zip code should never determine the size of their dreams.
That belief shapes every decision we make.
It is why we have built partnerships that connect students to internships and career opportunities. It is why we continue to expand access to healthcare, food resources, and wraparound family support. It is why we invest in leadership opportunities, athletics, the arts, and experiences that help students see a future they may have never imagined.
Education is about far more than earning a diploma.
It is about helping young people discover their voice, build confidence, develop character, and understand that they have the ability to change the world around them.
One of my favorite moments as principal came when a student transferred to St. Francis because she felt invisible at a much larger school. She wasn’t looking for an easier education. She was looking for a place where someone would know her name.
She found that here.
She found teachers who listened, administrators who believed in her, and opportunities to lead. Before long, she wasn’t simply participating in our community. She was shaping it. Through her leadership and determination, she helped bring wrestling back to St. Francis de Sales.
That story reminds me why our size is one of our greatest strengths.
Our students are never just another face in the hallway. They are artists, scholars, athletes, leaders, innovators, and future changemakers. They are known, challenged, celebrated, and loved.
As educators, we have an incredible responsibility. We are not simply preparing students for college or careers. We are preparing them for lives of purpose, faith, and service.
Whether you are a prospective family, an alumnus returning home, a community partner, or someone learning about St. Francis de Sales for the first time, I invite you to experience what makes this place so special.
Come visit our campus.
Meet our students.
Talk with our faculty.
Walk our halls.
I believe you’ll quickly discover what I’ve known all along.
St. Francis de Sales is more than a school.
It is a family.
It is a community.
It is a place where students are empowered to define themselves as Pioneers and where excellence truly happens on purpose.
I look forward to welcoming you to 10155.
With gratitude,
Dr. Roni Facen
Principal & CEO
St. Francis de Sales High School
