Athletics
The essence of a St. Francis
de Sales
education embodies our recognition
that schooling the soul and body is as important
as the instruction of the mind. We balance a solid
academic program with extracurricular opportunities. Organized athletics and extracurricular activities
teach
students many valuable lessons: teamwork, commitment, and
perseverance. Whether a participant or spectator, the rewards
are unparalleled on the field, in the gymnasium, on stage, in
a club meeting, and—most importantly—in the classroom.
St. Francis de Sales High School upholds and encourages every
aspect of extracurricular activities.
We Offer Students a Variety of Choices:
- As a member of the Chicago Catholic League, St. Francis competes in the following interscholastic events at the varsity, sophomore and/or freshmen levels: baseball, wrestling, basketball, football and soccer.
- As members of the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference, St. Francis competes in the following interscholastic events at the varsity and frosh-soph level: volleyball, basketball, softball and soccer.
- Intramural activities are offered on a club basis depending
on student body interest.
- Cheerleading, Spirit Club and Varsity Club are also offered.
- Summer camps for younger student-athletes and grammar school
students interested in learning the rules and techniques of
a sport are announced in the spring.
The excitement and pride that comes with
victory…the bitter disappointment of a loss…the
warm fellowship of sharing victory and defeat with
friends. This wide spectrum of emotion is witnessed
in the quality athletic programs at St. Francis de Sales
High School as a part of the comprehensive education
we offer.
