On behalf of the Boys Basketball Program we would like to wish everyone and their families a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
We would like to let everyone know that our games are being streamed live on www.ihigh.com/sycohigh. Check out our game Friday at 5:00p.m. against Huntley. Winner of this game will play in the championship on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. The loser will play at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. If you would like to see the game in person, please let me know and I will get you directions to the tournament.
As always, please feel free to contact me about any of the boys in the program that you, individually, feel is not living up to the high standards of SFDS. As the coach - teacher relationship is very important to me and I personally will handle all situations when it comes to these young men which will include games suspension and extra work throughout practice, such as, disciplinary procedures done at practice. Also, if for any reason any of the boys are struggling in any subject, please let me know as we have a tutor after school everyday before practice to help them with these struggles.
I really would like to thank all of you for your hard work and passion and I feel that sometimes you don't hear from most coaches enough to say thank you. So I am thanking you for a job well done!!!!!

Coach Wolfe

Internet Safety

This year I would like to devote my monthly informational series on internet safety. Last year, I did a series on “How to Get the Most Out of High School” and the year before that I shared with you the teachings and writings of St. Francis de Sales and his Salesian virtues. So, in every month’s newsletter, I would like to share with you some information, tips, advice, suggestions, etc. regarding internet safety and your children.
To begin, I would like to briefly talk about the current state of our internet and how to get started educating your children on internet safety.
Introduction
The internet offers a world of opportunities. The internet links computer networks around the world and provides access to a wide variety of information. People of all ages are:
	Texting each other from their mobile devices
	Sending photos to friends
	Posting video from mobile devices
	Connecting with friends online they don’t see regularly in person
	Building online profiles
	Creating alter egos in the form of online avatars
	Broadcasting what they are doing to hundreds and possibly thousands or maybe even millions of people worldwide
What a wonderful world we live in with all this technology. This technology puts instant communication at our fingertips. All these ways of communicating and socializing can be very fulfilling and rewarding, and yet, they come with certain risks. Some of these risks include:
Inappropriate content: Kids can easily find pornography, violence, hate speech, etc. online. Some sites are purposely set up to deceive kids into thinking they are appropriate for children.
Inappropriate contact: Some people online have bad intentions, including bullies, hackers, scammers and sexual predators.
Inappropriate conduct: The online world can feel anonymous. Kids sometime forget that they are still accountable for their actions and speech.
You can reduce these risks by talking with your children about how they communicate online and off. Encourage them to engage in behavior they can be proud of. This monthly series will provide some valuable information to help educate yourself and your children regarding online behavior and technological trends as well as provide some suggestions on protecting your child's internet use.
