Scholarships

There are a variety of ways students at St. Francis de Sales can earn scholarships to help defray the cost of receiving a quality Catholic education.  Please take a look at the opportunities below and feel free to contact the school with additional questions.

1.  Eighth grade students taking the placement exam at St. Francis de Sales High School in January who test at the 60th percentile and above   are eligible for a placement exam scholarship between $1,000 and $5,000 to St. Francis de Sales High School.  Please note:  students should   test at their first choice school on the Catholic school testing day in January.  Students are only allowed to take one Catholic school test at one Catholic school.

2.  The Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to students throughout Chicago who show significant financial need as well as outstanding academic achievement.  Typically the deadline for the DMSF scholarship is in the early Fall of the student's eighth grade year.  Please visit their website at www.dmsf.org for more information about the scholarship program.

3.  LINK Unlimited is another scholarship organization providing funding to African American students in Chicago.  Link scholarship recipients show significant financial need as well as outstanding academic achievements.  Applications are typically due in the fall of the student's    eighth grade year.  Please visit their website at www.linkunlimited.org for more information.

4.  The Moving Foreward Scholarship is an exclusive SFDS scholarship which provides scholarships for up to five incoming freshmen students.  Students receiving the scholarship are required to show significant financial need, outstanding academic achievement and commitment to being a caddy at an area golf course during each summer in high school.  Selected students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average (B average) and caddy during each summer in high school.  Upon successful completion of the Moving Foreward program and high school, he/she will be eligible to apply for the prestigious Evans Scholars Foundation Award for college.

5.  Thanks to the generosity of The Big Shoulders Fund and many other donors, SFDS is able to award several other scholarships to incoming freshmen during the spring of the student's eighth grade year.  Information about applying for those opportunities will be provided to  students who have tested, been accepted and are registered for classes at SFDS.

* Before students can be officially awarded any scholarship from St. Francis de Sales High School (excluding the placement exam scholarship),   the student must be registered for classes at St. Francis de Sales High School.
