President's Message
Dear Members of the St. Francis de Sales Family,
These past few weeks have been filled with great excitement as we prepare for the start of another academic year here at St. Francis de Sales High School. Since assuming the position of President on July 1, my time has been filled with watching and learning about all the wonderful things that are part of the St. Francis experience. It is no wonder that our students see St. Francis as a "home away from home", and a place where they can best prepare themselves for succesful, Spirit-filled, adult lives With a history of over one hundred years dedicated to Catholic education, the St. Francis de Sales community looks forward to another hundred years dedicated to enriching the lives of our young people, religiously, academically and socially.
Brendan O'Rourke also joins us as Recruitment and Marketing Director, along with Wally O' Sullivan as the new Development Director. You will be hearing more about them in the coming months, along with our plans for the future of St. Francis de Sales High School.
What is most impressive is the commitment of our parents to the continuous improvement of our school. Many hours have been spent cleaning the campus, both inside and out. Our work-study families have been getting their "hands dirty" preparing the grounds and classrooms for the return of our students, and many thanks goes out to these hard-working people who have gone out of their way to beautify the school. To provide a Catholic education for their children is a great sacrifice for many of our families, and without the efforts of these families, an effort that helps all of us, the sacrifice would be much greater. Again, thanks to all of you who have worked this summer and we look forward to seeing many more of you during the school year. Also, our faculty has been busy over the summer months working to prepare for the coming school year. The idea of teachers "having the summer off" does not apply to St. Francis teachers, who have spent many long hours working on lesson plans and preparing classrooms. Many of our teachers have been in school themselves over the summer, taking advanced classes to better serve the needs of your children. Thanks to all of them for their continued dedication to Catholic schools.
The Archdiocese of Chicago and the Board of Directors of St. Francis de Sales have given me a clear mandate for the future:
- Increase the student enrollment through enhanced Recruitment, Marketing and Public Relations efforts.
- Improve the affordability of a St. Francis education through enhanced Fundraising, Alumni Outreach and Development Projects.
- Expand the St. Francis educational product through Strategic and Long-Term Plannning.
None of the above goals will be achievable without your help and I look forward to working with everyone to make St. Francis the educational choice of all those seeking a high quality, Catholic education. And with everyting we do, we keep in mind the words of our Patron and Namesake, St. Francis de Sales, "An action of small value performed with much love of God is far more excellent than one of a higher virtue, done with less love of God."
Sincerely,
Fred Muehleman
President
